After ruling the premium smartphone segment in India for a year, Smartphone companies are now targeting the Smart Android TV category. The companies want their TV business to be as successful as its smartphone business in India. We have seen a successful achievement of Chinese brands “Xiaomi”, “OnePlus”, and an American brand “Motorola” has entered India with its Smart TVs segment. Flipkart will manage the end-to-end go-to-market strategy of the TVs including manufacture, distribute to help create thousands of new jobs in the country as a part of ‘Make in India’ initiative. It seems, there will be no involvement of Nokia except the brand name in the market. The company has also promised that the Nokia televisions will feature superior audio quality powered by JBL’s sound program, an initiative by Harman. This will be JBL’s first foray into the television space in India.
